REVIEWS

Social entrepreneurs are remarkable people with an ability to not only envisage change, but create the systems to implement it. We need them more than ever before. It makes perfect sense that they should lie at the heart of a new global system, and Mel and Alexandra make a case that would convince even the most sceptical.

François Bonnici, Head of Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship

A clear, comprehensive and convincing look at the people and the systems that can make the world a better place for all. There is a clear case for a complete system change which will make sure that the UN Sustainable Development Goals are achieved by 2030 and social entrepreneurs can provide the leadership and ideas to make that change possible.

Jeroo Billimoria, Global social entrepreneur and founder of Catalyst 2030

Power and Majesty

The first book by wildlife photographer and writer, Larry Laverty, Power and Majesty, features extraordinary images and informative text that captures the life of African elephants. The book focuses on these majestic animals and features stunning photographs from the most remote corners of Africa, from the savannahs and deserts, to the rivers and jungles. The text introduces various elephant habitats, explores the magical qualities of elephants and underscores the immense challenges they face for survival in a world dominated by humans.

The photographs and information showcased in this book will help increase our appreciation and understanding of the African elephant's significant place in the animal kingdom, and Larry Laverty will be donating all of his profits to this worthy cause. Their abilities to love, to remember, to function as families and to survive under some of the harshest conditions will change the way we think about elephants, with the hope that this knowledge will encourage more people to help save those who remain in the wild.

Powerful, Different, Equal

From Trump’s aggressive rhetoric against China, to the escalating trade war with tit for tat responses, and China’s 2025 initiative that threatens the US global leadership in advanced technologies, tensions between the US and China (the two dominant forces of today’s world) have never been higher.

This book provides a timely analysis of the US-China relationship. Each model is deeply rooted in their respective histories and cultures, with both models highly successful in achieving their main goals and highly resilient over time. It explores the core misconceptions on governance, economic, social and military issues, and the root causes of these misconceptions. If China and US could close the gap by each understanding those differences and their implications, the author argues, they could work together to overcome global issues to the benefit of all.

The Fourth Great Transformation

A new human species will soon come to co-exist with us. This new species, 'Homo nouveau', will be created using artificial intelligence and genetic engineering; both important tools which are in their infancy. Not only are the science and technology relatively new, but their implications in the mind of the general public are also only just beginning to enter our collective consciousness. This book expands on the research done for the author's pervious book, What Comes After Homo Sapiens?
Written by a medical professional and independent consultant to healthcare IT companies, The Fourth Great Transformation explores the questions of what this new species will look like, how we as humans will get along with them, and the potential threats and opportunities that will come along with genetically modified humans.

The Ethical Business Book

The burgeoning array of literature on ethical behaviour tends to focus on what’s happening at the extremes – either owner managers of start-ups built around a strong moral crusade, or large corporations undergoing change due to the personal epiphany of a forward-thinking CEO. This book, however, is directed at the middle ground – individuals who want their companies to adopt more ethical and sustainable practices, but don’t know where to start. The 50 ideas and techniques in this book provide direction to help society and the planet, while preserving the bottom line.

I Was a Teenage Space Reporter

"That's one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind," were the words spoken by Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong as he stepped off the footpad of the Lunar Module Eagle. This was the first and most famous manned mission to land on the Moon. As a 19-year-old college journalist, author David Chudwin covered the launch from Florida in July 1969. Chudwin was the only journalist with official NASA press credentials representing the college press and had extraordinary access to the astronauts, rocket scientists, launch pads, rockets, and control centers. 2019 will be the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 -- a time to look back to celebrate that mission, and forward to our future in space. Divided into three parts, this book provides: the author's account of covering the first landing on the Moon in 1969; lessons learned from the Apollo program and their relevance to future space activities; and our future in space including new rockets, space stations, and trips back to the Moon and to Mars.
