Today we hear from Robbie Lightfoot, Director at Authentic Solutions (UK) Ltd, on how The Zone of Connection has changed her life for the better and gives his advice to those wanting to use The Connection Practice in their own lives.
Robbie Lightfoot is Director at Authentic Solutions (UK) Ltd. Previously Head of Organisational Development for the Commercial & International Division of United Utilities and Head of Staff Development at Staffordshire University.
1) When were you introduced to the concept of The Connection Practice and why did you need it?
I was introduced via Sue who I had worked with as a facilitator previously. I attended a taster session and could see the benefit to me so did a full 2-day programme in London followed by some 1-1 coaching from Sue. I am very active with a full life and felt it could help me stop sometimes and get the benefit from being rather than doing. I also felt it could help me channel my energy and emotions effectively in stressful or challenging situations.
2) How has The Zone of Connection impacted you?
It is one of the biggest single things that has impacted on my energy, work-life balance and my confidence. I no longer feel guilty when I am not doing anything or relaxing and still have a full and active life. It has also helped me to overcome some self-limiting beliefs that were holding me back at times in my work and on occasions in life.
3) Do you have any advice for those who are just about to start using The Connection Practice?
Yes to go into it with an open mind and trust that it only works! and to try and practice it every day so that it becomes a habit. I built it into my morning routine to set me up for the day. I try to do it every day but sometimes I feel I don’t need to which is fine also. I also use it in advance of something new or challenging that I encounter in my work.
