This week, Jonathan Geldart was appointed Director General of the influential Institute of Directors, the UK’s longest running organization for professional leaders (founded in 1903). Jonathan is the author of Inside the Middle Kingdom: Insights into Modern China, published by LID.
Regarding his appointment, Jonathan said: “With current turmoil in both political and business environments, I strongly believe that it is even more important to equip directors of all organizations with the tools to be resilient and agile in their response to a fast-changing world. The IoD has a crucial role to play in this and I’m honoured to have been chosen to lead it at this time. Increasing value for today’s directors, whilst making the IoD relevant to the directors of the future, is the task at hand.”
Before becoming Director General of the IoD, Jonathan served on the global board at Grant Thornton International Ltd and was responsible for the company’s interests in China. He is currently writing his next book – How to Do Business in China – to be published by LID in 2020.
