Last night, LID Publishing had the pleasure of celebrating the 25th anniversary of the company with friends, authors, clients, colleagues and more.
The celebrations took place in the private “library” room of exclusive Shoreditch House in East London. Decorated with LID books through the ages, from its Spanish inception to our latest release, and the vast number of languages books like The Diagrams Book have been translated into.
We toasted with Prosecco, as LID UK’s Martin Liu gave a speech thanking everyone for being there and for their contribution to the success of the company before our founder and CEO Marcelino Elosua gave a speech to mark the occasion:
“Our values during these 25 years have remained the same: a strong defence of freedom in all ambits of life, of equal opportunities, the base for a stronger competitiveness, of merit-based promotions, of rational gathering of facts and decision-making, of diversity and inclusiveness. Today LID has 75 full-time employees plus a vast group of free-lancers and independent contractors and 5 out of 7 national managers are women. We were an international company to start off with, with two main languages, Spanish and English and most races and creeds.
“Martin has expressed our thanks to the authors, 2,500 of them around the world, with 125 new titles each year for the last eight years and, of course, to our corporate clients and readers. I want to extend this gratitude to all of our team and as I’m here on the very same day, March 15, in which I signed the deed of incorporation of LID, it is because I want to make a special recognition to the 14 women and men that now form the London office, the one growing the most in the last three years, and to all the people that have helped us in the past.”
We also invited Neil Grogan from The National Literacy Trust to speak on behalf of the charity, who LID have partnered with in celebrating our mutual 25th anniversaries to campaign and fundraise on the NLT’s behalf by signing their Vision For Literacy business pledge.
The night continued with a voraciously enjoyed open bar and delicious food bowls supplied by Shoreditch House, finished with a beautiful cake to celebrate our landmark birthday.
However our favourite part of the night may have actually been the photo booth, enjoyed by our colleagues, authors, guests and even Marcelino himself.
Here’s to another fantastic 25 years, thank you to everyone that has made reaching this special anniversary possible, with a special mention to our very own Charlotte Reynard who worked tirelessly to make this a wonderful celebration.
