Mindful practices have other positive effects as well. Research studies conducted by the department of psychiatry at Oxford University showed that ina course on practising mindfulness among participants, there was a 58% reduction in anxiety, a 40% reduction in stress and a 57% reduction in depression.
Another study by the School of Psychology at the University of Surrey found that people completing a mindfulness course showed a 40% decrease in rumination, a 26% reduction in chronic fatigue and a 33% improvement in sleep quality. Mindfulness practice and meditation also have a proved effect on our mental functions, such as:
