LID to Publish an Eye-Opening Book about the Real Impact of Carbon Credits by TEDx Speaker Jaye Connolly
LID Publishing will publish a new ground-breaking book exposing our current carbon credits systems and why it is failing us and the environment. Titled Carbon Credits Are Crap: The myths, the mess, and the way forward for traceable carbon credits, the book will be out in June 2025.
The author Jaye Connolly is the CEO of RippleNami, an innovative tech firm that integrates AI, blockchain, and data visualization providing traceability and transparency to connect unconnected communities. She works with African presidents in addressing the continent’s most pressing issues.
In her recent TEDx talk in San Diego, Jaye talks about her 10,000-mile quest across Africa, leading to a shocking revelation about the world of carbon credits. She also states her mission to educate and drive awareness that leads to a better carbon credits system.
Carbon credits are a market-based way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by funding projects that remove or avoid emissions from the atmosphere. The carbon credits system, that provides a $2-trillion climate (so-called) “solution”, has exploited under-developed communities for decades, says Jaye.
Carbon Credits Are Crap is based on Jaye Connolly’s personal encounters and extensive work across Africa and presents the raw truth about what happens when climate policies are manipulated to serve the elite while leaving the most vulnerable to bear the cost. The author demonstrates why the current carbon credits system is failing and, if left unchecked, enables fraud and greenwashing on a huge scale. She goes on to offer real-world solutions for how we can reform this broken system, ensuring that those who are protecting the planet benefit from the climate economy.
Martin Liu, LID’s Publisher and COO, says: “There is a clear need for greater awareness and discussion on carbon credits and the climate economy. Jaye Connolly’s book serves this important purpose. Her frontline work in Africa, and the revelations from that, are portrayed and analysed in this book and will provide a fascinating perspective on what is really happening.”
