Six international economists examine China’s growth and global development initiatives
Since the reforms of 1978, China has experienced an explosion of growth that not only radically changed the country’s economic and social conditions, but also the international economic and strategic scenario. For several decades, the Chinese economy grew by an average of 10% annually, an unprecedented phenomenon. Other Asian countries, such as Japan or South Korea, also had periods of rapid growth and transformation, but in the case of China, the enormous size of its economy was added, which determined an equally enormous impact on the world.
This book discusses China’s economic development from the perspective of six leading economists from outside of China. The book analyses both the internal and external impact of China’s economy over the past 40 years, up to the present day. It also looks at how China is proactively addressing the challenges and uncertainties of the current US trade war.

John Ross is Senior Fellow at Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China, former Director of Economic and Business Policy for the Mayor of London.
Félix Debierre contributed to the modernization of public debt management at the French Treasury in the late 1980s, now publishes translations of ancient Chinese mathematical treatises.
Gustavo Alejandro Girado is professor and Director of the Postgraduate Program in “Specialization in Contemporary Chinese Studies” at the National University of Lanús (UNLa).
Luis Antonio Paulino is professor and Director of the Confucius Institute at the São Paulo State University, special advisor to the Brazilian Ministry of Finance (2003).
Julio Sevares is economist and journalist, professor in the Chinese Studies Specialization Program at the Institute of International Relations of the National University of La Plata.
Jérôme Ravenet is philosophy teacher in secondary education, taught Chinese at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Aix-en-Provence for 20 years.
