Leadership principles for the new world of work
By Guest Contributor LID Publishing
We look at Atholl Duncan’s newest book Leaders In Lockdown and the lessons to learn from his interviews with global industry heads over lockdown.
ABOUT THE BOOK
Leaders in Lockdown is a unique insight from the women and men who were on the frontline of leading the business world’s fight against Covid-19. From New York to Singapore to Hong Kong to the City of London it captures a remarkable moment in time – when the global economy was brought to a shuddering halt in the struggle to contain a deadly pandemic. These first-hand accounts of 100 days of lockdown tell stories of leadership in a crisis. They also share the wisdom of some of the world’s most thoughtful business leaders as they predict how the world will change because of Covid-19.
In these in-depth interviews, the leaders we hear from include New York Times CEO Mark Thompson: Unilever CHRO Leena Nair: care home leader Sir David Behan; Stagecoach founder Sir Brian Souter; Tata’s people leader Napur Mallick; WHOOP founder Will Ahmed; and trail blazing young venture capitalist Pocket Sun.

The Seven Theme Framework for 2021 and beyond featured in HR Director Online.
The business year ahead will be the toughest of our lifetimes – even more challenging than 2020. The people agenda will take a prominence it has never had before. It must be aligned to a once in a generation re-set of individual companies, sectors and whole economies. There is no going back to life before covid-19.
Eyes on the road there’s no going back featured in City AM.
The hope this week of a Covid-19 vaccine has already got people talking of “going back to normal” — perhaps even by spring. But there will be no going back for British business. The events of the last eight months have changed things forever. In March, as Covid spread from mainland Europe to the City of London, I embarked on a project to capture this remarkable time in history. Over 100 days of the first lockdown, I Zoomed into the kitchens of 28 global leaders to hear their first-hand accounts of how they were coping with the crisis.
Shaping the future from a life in lockdown featured in Daily Business Magazine.
So it was that journalist-turned-company director and executive coach Atholl Duncan decided to tap into the inner thoughts of international business leaders to find out how lockdown had impacted their working and personal lives, how they had managed the transition, in some cases, of thousands of staff to remote working, and how it had changed their thoughts on the world of work and the shape of society once the pandemic is gone.
Global Business leaders including top Scots says ‘no going back’ to pre-COVID world featured in The Scotsman.
Amid the news earlier this week of a breakthrough vaccine that could begin to be rolled out within weeks, the 28 business leaders believe it is unlikely that the world will see a return to the pre-virus world of business.
